'Black' poem

                                                Black

Black is nightmares filling a horrified child's thoughts through out the windy night.

It is hairy monsters rising from under the dark, messy depths of your bed.

Black is night time with a putrid surprise of creepy crawlers darting up someone's jittery legs.

It is horrid thoughts of what a dreadful day it had been.

Aunty similes

Similes response to ' James and the giant peach '

                     by Roald Dahl

                 1.   Aunt Spiker is as long as an ancient warrior's sword.

                 2. Aunt Sponger looks as rotten as a putrid rusty rubbish dump.

                 3. Their words meanly pierce into James's like a dagger hitting him suddenly.

The museum ( Da Vinci )

                                             The museum trip

A few weeks ago, rooms 8, 9 and 10 went to the Hamilton museum to see Leonardo Da Vinci' s machines and inventions. Firstly, we saw things about the first world war and lots of information about it ( I liked that part ) we also went in an exhibit called 'magic mirrors' that was cool because if you turned a handle on one mirror, it made you big or little. Then, we got to see da Vinci's machines, sketches and plans. My favourite machine was the robotic lion that spits out lily flowers and roared. That was the most exciting museum trip ever!

The school fair

                                  THE SCHOOL FAIR

On the fourth of March it was the school fair. Room 9's stall was the sweet treat stall, it was very
popular because we sold candy floss, toffee apples, fudge and cupcakes. My favourite part was the
nose picking booth because the slime felt weird and I liked getting the lollies. I also enjoyed eating
candy floss, fudge and coconut ice. The other part I loved was the petting zoo because all the
animals        were so cute! I can't wait until the next school fair.

Senior Swimming Sports

                                                    SENIOR SWIMMING SPORTS

On the twenty seventh of February it was senior swimming sports. I really enjoyed it this time! At first, the water was like ice. I did back stroke, breath stroke and freestyle. The best part was when I came third place in nine year old girls freestyle. ( not the finals ) I also liked the P.T.A lunch because I thought the food was amazing. I also can't wait until next year, and it has been the best part of the year so far!

All about ME

Hi. I'm Isabella and I am nine years old. I think 2016 will be an amazing year!

I enjoy horseback riding, kung fu and cheer leading.  My favourite school subject is English because I love spelling (I am very passionate about it), and science because I am fascinated about geology, biology and experiments like exploding coke, floating eggs and volcanic eruptions (mini ones, not real ones of course!)

Something you might not know about me is I come from another country, Denmark, and I can speak Danish.

Term 4 Inquiry - Technology

My animal is the red crowned kakariki.

What does my animal need in its enclosure?
A nesting box, a bird bath, trees, grass and branches.

What features did I add just for my animal and how are they helpful?
A nesting box for laying eggs, and a pond because birds like to take baths.

Did I make any changes and why did I decide to do that?

I changed grit to a bush because they don’t like grit.

Orangutans Report Writing

ORANGUTANS
Orang-utans are part of the great ape family. Pongo is the orangutans Latin name.
HABITAT
Orangutans don’t live in a wide range of places. They live in south Sumatra and the whole of Borneo. They tend to build nests in canopies (tops) of trees. Their habitat is being destroyed and their species is dying out quickly.
DESCRIPTION
Orangutans make a noise like a cicada or else a “oh, oh, ah, ah”! They have dark brownish-ginger fur and their feet are like their hands. The males form flanges (pads on their faces) when they are 11-15 years old. Orangutans do not like the rain because their fur is not water-proof.
DIET
Orangutans eat a variety of food plus they are an omnivore so they eat plants and meat. They eat: fruit, bark, honey, insects and even birds eggs. They may eat leaves as well as fruit.
DYNAMICS
Orangutans are extremely clever and use sticks and rocks as tools. Orangutans predators are tigers and clouded leopards. An orang-utan makes its bed every day and makes sure it is tidy.

Orangutans need our help! Forests in Borneo have been chopped down for palm oil which destroys their habitat. We can help them by giving money to foundations that save and rescue them, and planting more trees in the forests.
